GET INVOLVED

March 13th, 2012, Oxford/Jimmy Lee Recreation Center

9 people attended—Andy Singer, Matt Cole, Gary Fifield, Jeff Zaayer, Paul Ogren, Paul Nelson, Mike Madden, Steve Clark and Danny Sarasti. We discussed upcoming public hearings and Bicycling 101 class on April 21 and 28th. Ed Lehr is applying for a $10,000 Blue Cross Grant for a “Bicycle Boulevard for a Day” event on Margaret Street East. He has support of District 1, Parks and Recreation (Eric Thompson), Public Works and Ward 7 City Council Chair, Kathy Lantry. We agreed that the SPBC would also write him a letter of support which we did over the weekend. A couple of us also agreed to attend a State Senate District 64 constituent luncheon at the state capitol last week to raise the issue of the lack of safe crossings on Snelling Avenue and MnDOT’s unwillingness to fix this. We went to the luncheon and raised the issue with Dick Cohen, Michael Paymar and Erin Murphy who seemed supportive and promised to follow up with us.
